Peter Luger Menu Prices

Critics and aficionados have spent over 130 years calling the famous aged Porterhouse at Peter Luger the best steak in New York—or even beyond.

New Yorkers who can afford to eat there regularly often do, and it tops more bucket lists than probably any other restaurant. Patrons all agree: the steak’s worth every penny.

About Peter Luger

The original Brooklyn restaurant first opened in 1887, under Peter and Carl Luger. Sol Forman bought the place in 1950 and turned it into the steakhouse we know today.

Great Neck, NY hosts the only other location, with Tokyo planned for the third. Luger’s claims a Michelin Star, James Beard American Classic, and Zagat’s top-rated NY steak since 1984.

Peter Luger Review

Peter Luger has hardly changed in seventy years, if not the full 130. With antique German styling and uniforms from the last turn of the century, it’s another world entirely.

They dry-age their own steaks in-house, of course (that’s the scent you noticed walking in). You can’t eat as much as they say you can, but you will want to.

Get steak, it’s that simple (or the lunch hamburger . . . or maybe the lamb). With it, though, get Chop Salad and any dessert. The bacon speaks for itself. Look it up.

With this much tradition behind it, the service can’t be anything less than top-notch. Credit cards are not accepted, so don’t come unless you have the money on hand.
