About Original Pancake House
Les Highet and Erma Hueneke sourced as many recipes as they could find before opening their first diner in Portland, Oregon in 1953.
The franchise now boasts 134 US locations across 28 states. Original Pancake House’s recognitions include a Zagat rating and multiple James Beard Foundation Awards. Not bad for casual dining, huh?

Without really trying, the paneling, bricks, and stained-glass feel cozy, distinct, and respectable, in a way other diners can’t pull off. Peak hours get crazy, but they’re used to it.
Hands down, these are some of the best pancakes you’ll ever order. (If your scratch-made ones are better, I want your recipe.)
But since you can get those as a side, make sure to try some of the specialty dishes, like the Dutch Baby or anything with apples.
Considering the demand, the service and wait times are really impressive. But be reasonable; don’t expect your Apple Pancake to be ready as fast as the other guy’s scrambled eggs.
