About Sonny’s BBQ
Sonny’s BBQ was founded on April 17, 1968 by Floyd “Sonny” Tillman. Back then it was known as Sonny’s Real Pit-Bar-B-Q and was later purchased by Bob Yarmuth who today serves as the company’s CEO.
The restaurant today has more than 113 locations in a total of nine southern states. The company’s headquarters is in Maitland, Florida. It was the largest barbecue restaurant back in the 2000s.
Sonny’s BBQ Review
The atmosphere is very chill in Sonny’s BBQ. The setup is your typical barbecue joint complete with tables for four or more. Some locations have long tables for bigger crowds.
The food here is genuinely southern and the servings are generous. You get tender warm meat with beans and soft steaming bread on the side.
Favorite menu items here at Sonny’s include baby back ribs. Order that with mac and cheese with beans on the side. You should try the salad bar too.
The staff and waiters are always pleasant and service is good. Wait times vary depending on how large a crowd is gathered here – which can vary from under 5 minutes to 20 minutes.
