What’s this, a restaurant review of a movie theater? Movie Tavern is a cinema meant for a luxurious, (affordable,) comfortable experience—not getting the most butts in seats per hour.
From the East Coast to the Midwest, everyone knows that when you really want to have a good time at the movies, with actual, good food, there’s only one option.

About Movie Tavern
Movie Tavern started out in 2001. Their current parent company, Southern Theatres, bought them from Rave Cinemas in 2013, to keep them from going to Cinemark when they purchased Rave.
At the moment, there are 24 Movie Tavern cinemas in 10 states, from Colorado to New York. It’s a real shame food critics tend to overlook them for being different.
Movie Tavern Review
The dining/viewing experience is the reason Movie Tavern exists. The theaters have plenty of space, the seats are heavenly, and with food, it becomes more of a group experience.
The very least you could say for the food is that it’s clearly superior to ordinary movie snacks, but it’s often even better (and cheaper) than whatever your alternative was.
For even more hype for the night’s movie, check for special tie-in menu items (like Grinch Green Apple Soda). Yes, they have alcohol, or popcorn if you’re not as hungry.
Some people complain about waiters blocking the screen, to which I say, “What did you expect?” Why come here if not to be a little distracted by your food?
