About Donatos
The original Donatos was acquired by businessman Jim Grote in 1963. McDonald’s bought it from Grote in 1999 in an attempt to venture into the pizza industry. However, when McDonald’s decided to concentrate on its core products, Grote decided to repurchase the restaurant and grow the business with his daughter Jane Grote Abell.
The restaurant has over a hundred locations in the United States, with approximately twenty franchisees. It was recognized by Technomic as one of the Top 150 Fast-Casual Chain Restaurants in 2014. Its success led Jane to be recognized by Columbus CEO Magazine as CEO of the Year in the same year.
Donatos Review
I have always liked the exterior design of this restaurant, specifically how the hues of brown, white, and red matched the architectural design. The interior design provides a homey feeling, making the place an ideal hangout for customers of all ages.
Donatos serves American food – in fact, it serves America’s staple food. But you have to try their different pizza and sandwich concoctions to discover on your own what makes their menu unique from others.
Try their rich and creamy Chicken Bacon Cheddar sandwich or, if you are health conscious, try their Fresh Vegy sandwich. There are more than five pizza flavors to choose from and my suggestion for you is to try their Chicken Sandwich Mozzarella Pizza. But, of course, all the other pizza flavors are just as delicious! I should know; I have tried them all!
