About Captain D’s
On August 15, 1969 the first restaurant was opened in Donelson, Tennessee by founder Raymond Danner, Sr. Back then, it was known as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers. It wasn’t until 1974 when they renamed the chain to Captain D’s.
Over the years, Captain D’s distinguished itself as a successful franchise. In 2017, it was #90 on Nation’s Restaurant News Top 100 restaurant chains.
Captain D’s Review
In 2012, many Captain D’s restaurants were redesigned to look like a 21st century restaurant. The new look offered a coastal ambience that is breezy and welcoming.
Aside from the classic fish and chips, they also offer a grilled menu which includes dishes like grilled salmon and shrimp skewers.
Perhaps the star of their menu is the unassuming batter dipped fish. The meat is juicy and you can tell that it’s fresh. They say that the batter is made from a secret blend and the fish is hand-dipped into its savory and seasoned goodness.
It feels like a vacation when you enter the restaurant and be greeted by their pleasant staff. They open between 10:30am – 10:00pm.
